I finally decided to join the food blogging world in August 2014!!! I thought about it on and off over the years and it seemed like the best time- I was sharing my food and my motivation through social media already, only this gives me the opportunity to share it all under one roof 🙂
How did it come to this..?! I have always been a foodie, always loved yummy treats and going out for meals. It is only now many years later that I am aware that I definitely did not always eat food that was good for me. I suppose with that, I was always the bigger girl in school or on the basketball team and I did live relatively happy throughout my childhood (apart from a bully or two at aged 8/9). It was when I was 16 or 17 I became a lot more self conscious about how I looked and much more inquisitive about the food I consumed. I tried a couple of different ‘diets’ but it was only in 2008 that I took a more serious approach about becoming healthy and losing weight.

I started Weight Watchers.
Fast forward 10 months and I had lost a massive 57.5lbs!!!

After losing the weight I thought I was invincible- I thought that I could maintain and stay slender even though I was picking back up the bad habits which had led to my obesity in the first place. Minimal exercise did not help either. I was almost 21 and heading to start a new adventure in London for a number of months. And so in a short time, dabbling in and out of Weight Watchers while abroad and on my return, I gained back some weight and struggled to hold down any eating routine. Post London, I went back to do my final year in college (circa 2011) and then on to another 2 years of travelling in Australia. It was in Australia where I first was introduced to the clean way of living and how I could approach my weight management differently. It was always hard to take on a new way of being when you were ‘living the dream’ Down Under. There were numerous opportunities to beer after work in the sunshine, goon with the girls or travelling miles away from civilisation.
In all this time I have never gone back to 210.5lbs!!!
Today, I am home over 2 years from Australia and am so much more in love with food than I have ever been. I see food in a much healthier way than I did before. I use wholesome non processed foods in my every day eating- rather then eating ‘WW’ products and ready meals for convenience.
I enjoy nothing more than coming up with healthy variations of not so healthy dinners and creating new and exciting dishes that you can look forward to. You should not dread your next meal or your next bite, clean does not have to be boring, it is creative, tasty and so good for your well being. In the last two years, I have become quite fitness orientated and try to exercise most days which will always help the overall goal. Currently I am struggling with a leg injury which has completely altered my training and led me to be less consistent but as life goes I am determined to push past it and get back to being my absolute best!
It has taken me a long time to discover the do’s and don’ts when it comes to nourishing the body-I am still learning every single day. We’re only human and some days I want the ice cream so I will have it- simple as! I have just finished a Certificate in Nutrition for Physical activity which I hope will only help how I cook as well as help I eat and train!!
Sharing my love of food, cooking and all things in between.. always!
